Janasandha
Janasandha:1.Janasandha.-King of Benares,father of ādāsamukha.His servant was Gāmanicanda.For their story see the Gamanicanda Jātaka (J.ii.297ff ); Janasandha is also referred to as Dasaratha (E.g.,p.299).He was called Janasandha because he won the hearts of men by four ways of kindness (catūhi sangahavatthūhi sandahanato).J.ii.299.
2.Janasandha.-A khattiya,father of Tissa Buddha (J.i.40; Bu,xviii.16).He seems to have been called also Saccasandha.BuA.188.
3.Janasandha.-A title given to Dhanañjaya-Koravya,king of Kurukkhetta (J.vi.291).The scholiast explains it thus:mittaganthanena mittajanassa santhānakaro.
4.Janasandha.-Son of Brahmadatta and king of Benares; an incarnation of the Bodhisatta.See Janasandha Jātaka.
