Merukandara

Merukandara：A district in Malaya （in Ceylon） often sought as a place of refuge - e．g．，by Kassapa，son of Upatissa III．（Cv．xli．19）； Jetthatissa，son of Asiggāhaka Sanghatissa （Cv．xliv．28） and Potthakuttha （Cv．xlvii．58）．

Vijayabāhu I．gave Merukandara as dowry to his daughter，Yasodharā，who married Vīravanna （Cv．lix．27）．

The village of Vacāvātaka was in Merukandara．Cv．lxx．282．
