Atthasadda Jātaka:Preached at Jetavana.Pasenadi,having heard one night a cry uttered by four inhabitants of hell,sought the advice of the Buddha (The story is given in full in theLohakumbhi Jātaka; J.iii.43f).
The Buddha tells him of a former king of Benares who,when seated on his bed at midnight,heard eight unusual sounds which frightened him till they were shown by the Bodhisatta to be quite natural.J.iii.428-34.
